Jordan ismotoring along nicely

They say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and that’s certainly the case when it comes to Mullingar’s Jordan Dempsey, who has become youngest driver to be selected for a Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month award.

The award is in recognition of a highly productiive few months for the driver. In addition to claiming second place in the Ginetta Junior Ireland Championship round at Mondello Park on August 10, Jordan has recorded a win and several top four placings ealrier in the season. He also set the fastest lap in three of the ten races this year, and currently lies fourth in the Ginetta Junior Ireland points table.

Jordan began karting at the age of nine, racing in the Northern Ireland Cadet series for two years, and has always had an ambition to race in the Formula Ford 1600 class, which he hopes to achieve when he reaches the age of 16.
He is the third generation of his family to go motor racing, as his father, Morgan Dempsey Jnr, has been very successful in the Formula Ford and Formula Ireland classes over many years, while his grandfather, Morgan Dempsey Snr, used to race various types of sports cars, also with much success.

Jordan’s heroes are his dad, Morgan, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
His car is backed by his father’s company, Motorsport Car Preparation. He attends Mullingar Community College, where he is preparing for his Junior Certificate examinations next June.

Having been selected as the fifth Dunlop Driver of the Month for the 2014 season, Jordan is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is supported by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.

With such a rich driving lineage we are sure to see and hear plenty more about Jordan in the years to come.
