Westmeath GAA has received McManus cheque

Westmeath GAA has today – Friday – received its €100,000 cheque from businessman, JP McManus.

“We're absolutely delighted,” said Westmeath GAA Chairman, Billy Foley, revealing that the donation will mean a funding boost of just over €2,100 apiece to the 47 clubs in Westmeath.

Clubs won't have to wait long to receive their share from the pot, he said.

“We're expecting to get it out to the clubs next week.”

The GAA world was delighted on Monday last when the Limerick man announced he was giving €100,000 to every county board in the country, to be divided equally among their clubs. Mr McManus annouced the donation as his way of celebrating Limerick's success in this year's All-Ireland Hurling Championship.
