Liam Glynn after the Dublin City Marathon.

Marathon man Liam looking ahead to next year

Fresh from running five marathons this year to raise funds and awareness for Mental Health Ireland, a local runner says that he is already planning the 26 milers he will do in 2019.

Liam Glynn from Emper brought his year of marathon running to a close in Dublin at the end of last month with a new PB of 3.41.39, three minutes faster than his previous best.

He first marathon of the year was in April when he completed the Rome Marathon and he followed it up two weeks later with one in Connemara before tacklying the challenging Wild Atlantic Way Marathon in Donegal in July.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, Liam said that while he is pleased to have completed the quintet of marathons, he is already looking ahead to next year.

“I have already signed up for Dublin in 2019  and no doubt will be looking to knock at least five minutes off my PB as it will be my fourth DCM. I may also do the Rome Marathon again in April.

“All I can say is for any people with doubt to believe in yourself. Anything is achieveable in life if you put your mind to it. I have now ran seven marathons since October 2016 having only taken up running less than four years ago.”
