Amy steadily building to ‘Better Days’

By Sarah Slevin

Amy Quirke is steadily building her music repertoire with the release of her fourth single ‘Better Days’ on July 9.

The Mullingar musician has a message of hope in her latest release which she describes as “hard-pop and alternative”.

“If you’re stuck in a situation and you think things are not going to get better, you know it will, they are better days to come,” Amy said.

Amy’s debut single was released in 2016 and she is hoping to build up more tracks with the eventual aim of making an EP or album.

“I want to get back writing a few more songs, and maybe get an EP out next year,” Amy said.

“At the moment, I want to release singles to lay the groundwork a bit first before making an album.”

The song was written four years ago, and Amy recorded it with musicians Michael Cronin on drums and Fiachra Milner on bass and electric guitar.

Amy is hoping to get back gigging as soon as restrictions allow but, in the meantime, she has been doing live streamed online gigs.

“Hopefully after lockdown we can try and get back out. There’s gigs lined up if I want but it’s just getting out there with lockdown, we don’t know what’s going to happen,” Amy said.

“I have been doing live streams to play my own music and doing covers gigs which is great because we can still connect with our audience,” she said.

‘Better Days’ will be available online and on platforms such as Spotify and iTunes from July 9.
