Gardaí will be checking pubs are closed at 8pm

Gardaí will be checking if local publicans are closing their doors at 8pm in line with the new curfew announced by Taoiseach Micheál Martin on Friday evening.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, a Garda spokesperson said that officers will be visiting pubs to see if they are complying with the latest round of Covid restrictions for the hospitality sector, which came into force yesterday, Monday.

“We have a great relationship with local vintners and don't foresee any problems," he said.
