Brosna Art Group's exhibition on at the Greville Arms Hotel

"It was absolutely beautifully surprising, it was beyond our expectations, lots of sales, the place was buzzing, it's great to be back," says Kai Keegan of the Brosna Art Group, speaking of the official opening of the annual exhibition held in the Greville Arms on Thursday night.

The Exhibition runs throughout today, Friday until 9pm, and tomorrow, Saturday from 11am to 6pm.

"The Brosna Art Group started as an amalgamation of St Loman's Social Club Art Group, which commenced in the noughties, and a group that used to meet in Walshestown," explains Kai.

"Neither group had enough to support classes or that type of thing, so we decided to integrate and what emerged was the Brosna Art Group."

On display is a variety of media including watercolours, acrylics, oils and mixed media.

Angela Algar says the process of painting is very relaxing; "It's a great way of chilling out, it's real therapy. "

"You get carried away, you even forget to eat, you become really engrossed in it," adds Anne Shaw.

The group's chosen charity this year is the Ken Smollen Food Appeal, and proceeds from the raffle are going towards this worthy cause.
