Travel disruption warning for Niall Horan fans heading to Dublin concerts
Fans travelling from Westmeath to see Mullingar singer Niall Horan in Dublin next week are being urged to plan ahead, with significant transport disruption expected around 3Arena.
The venue has confirmed that all four of Horan's concerts on November 9, 10, 12 and 13 will go ahead as scheduled, despite major security arrangements for two European political meetings taking place nearby.
The concerts, part of his Dinner Party Live On Tour in support of his latest album, Dinner Party, will begin at 7pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
Dublin will host a European Political Community summit on Thursday, November 12, followed by an informal meeting of EU leaders on Friday, November 13, both at the Convention Centre Dublin.
Although 3Arena is outside the security cordon, restrictions will affect roads, public transport and pedestrian access.
Luas services will operate normally on November 10, but on November 12 and 13 the Red Line will run only as far as Connolly, leaving concert-goers to walk to the venue using designated pedestrian routes. Limited special services will operate from The Point after the concerts.
Road closures and bus diversions will also be in place, including restrictions on North Wall Quay.
Fans travelling from Mullingar and elsewhere in Westmeath are advised to allow extra time for their journeys, check transport updates before setting off and make arrangements for getting home.
An Garda Síochána and Transport for Ireland have said they are working to minimise disruption during the busy concert period.
