Midlands LGBTQ+ group shortlisted for award

A midlands group has been shortlisted for this year’s GALAS Awards, which celebrate outstanding contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland.

Included in the shortlist is Midlands LGBT+ Project, which is nominated for LGBTQ+ Community Organisation of the Year (Paid Staff), while Daniel Boyne, founder and chairman of Mullingar Pride, is nominated for LGBTQ+ Volunteer of the Year.

Organised by the NXF, the National LGBT Federation, in partnership with GCN, Ireland’s national media and press for the LGBTQ+ community, the awards take place in The Round Room at the Mansion House on Saturday 7 October.

The GALAS Awards will be hosted by Panti Bliss and Lisa Connell.

As Ireland’s only LGBTQ+ awards programme, the GALAS acknowledge the effort made by individuals, organisations, and companies who work towards a better future for LGBTQ+ people in Ireland.

This year, there are a total of 13 categories, from Outstanding Company and Ally of the Year to Event of the Year. Members of the public nominated their choices, which were subsequently reduced to a shortlist, chosen by LGBTQ+ advocacy organisations.

The shortlist for the Community Organisation of the Year – paid staff category is: LGBT Ireland; Midlands LGBT+ Project; LGBTQ Development Project (Cumann na Daoine); Dundalk Outcomers
