Mullingar Shamrocks to feature on RTÉ Onetonight

RTÉ One's six-part series Heated, produced by indiepics, seeks out inspirational stories of ordinary people making significant differences in their communities.

It takes a look at the implications of climate change for the lives of Irish people – telling stories of hope, inspiration and practical endeavours as we push to cut emissions.

Tonight, Mullingar Shamrocks will feature on the programme, as part of the Green Clubs initiative, where Green Club coordinator Joan Ormsby has been instrumental in that change.

There are 2,200 GAA clubs on the island of Ireland and many are at the heart of communities all over the country.

In an effort to tackle climate change and become more sustainable, the GAA established a Green Clubs Programme, which helps clubs take simple and effective action against climate change.

They have developed a toolkit which contains advice and guidance in the areas of Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity and Travel and Transport.

Imagine the impact the GAA could have if all their clubs became Green Clubs. Heated presenter Michelle McKeown has been on an inter county tour, paying a visit to the Mullingar Club.
