Patchy rain and drizzle to break into bright spells and showers

Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees

Frosty and icy to begin for many today, giving way to a mostly dry day with sunny spells. Less cold, but cloudier, near the east coast, with patchy rain and drizzle, breaking up into bright spells and showers as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in mainly light variable breezes, although southerly breezes will freshen along Atlantic coasts towards evening.

Cold and mostly dry to begin with a mix of cloud and some clear spells and just a few patches of light rain or drizzle near the east coast. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +4 degrees, with some frost and ice and patchy fog or freezing fog for a time. Temperatures will rise from the southwest overnight as cloud thickens and rain and drizzle spreads northeastwards, perhaps falling as sleet for a time a short time but soon transitioning to rain, clearing any frost and ice by morning. Light southeast or variable winds will increase light to moderate by morning.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be a damp, cloudy and rather windy day, with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times, especially across parts of Munster and south Leinster, bringing a risk of spot flooding. Milder than recent days, with afternoon highs of 7 to 10 degrees generally, though a little cooler in Ulster, in fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds.
