Robbie Williams belts out Joe Dolan classic in Dublin bar

Mullingar music legend Joe Dolan’s legacy rang out in the capital on Friday night when pop superstar Robbie Williams surprised a packed crowd in 37 Dawson Street, Dublin, by covering Joe’s iconic hit “You’re Such a Good Looking Woman.”

The impromptu sing-along, alongside social media star Garron Noone, had the late Mullingar star’s anthem echoing through the venue, and video of the performance has since gone viral, with fans from Westmeath and beyond delighted to see Dolan’s music celebrated by such stars.

Williams, who played a sold-out show in Croke Park last weekend, has a long connection to Joe Dolan. His father, Pete Williams, worked the same UK cabaret circuit as Joe and counted the Mullingar man as a close personal friend. That bond has seen Robbie repeatedly pay tribute to Dolan in Ireland, most memorably at his Aviva Stadium concert in 2017, when he led tens of thousands in a rousing version of “You’re Such a Good Looking Woman.”

Friday’s rendition in Dawson Street carried a more intimate feel, with the crowd joining in word for word as Williams belted out the hit. The viral video has drawn huge reaction online, proving once more the timelessness of Dolan’s music, almost 17 years on from his passing in 2007.
