One Club model brought timesheet changes

Mullingar Golf Club notes

One Club model

As part of Mullingar Golf Club's continued transition to the One Club model, new competition timesheet arrangements came into effect on Saturday September 27.

The changes were introduced to provide fair and equal access to competition timesheets for all members while preserving the club's established competitions and major days. Wednesday competitions remain in the three-ball format and weekend competitions in the four-ball format, with both open to all eligible members.

Priority booking for the opening five to six hours of Major Day timesheets continues to be reserved for the members for whom the competition was designated, including events such as the Mileage Tyres Men's Hamper.

The revised structure aims to increase participation opportunities for members without reducing or altering existing playing times and represents an important first step in the ongoing development of the One Club initiative.

Round 12 of the Order of Merit with Twelfth Open Singles Stableford — Friday October 2. A reasonably playable autumn day gave way to wetter conditions later in the afternoon for Mullingar Golf Club's final Open Singles competition of the year, sponsored by Capnua. The event attracted 27 entries from three visiting clubs.

In the ladies' section, Siobhan O'Donnell Murphy (15) claimed first place with an excellent 38 points, edging out Lady Vice Captain Ann Marie Fagan (12) on countback, with Ann Marie also returning 38 points. The men's competition was won by Kevin Daniels (13) with a superb score of 39 points. The gross prize went to Pio O'Leary (Lucan, 1) with 30 gross points, while Brian Burke (Lucan, 6) secured second place on 31 points.

The competition provided a fitting conclusion to the season's Open Singles events, with members and visitors enjoying competitive golf despite the late arrival of the rain.

The Egan Auctioneers Order of Merit was contested over 12 weeks, with scores from each Friday Open Singles competition contributing towards the overall standings. Points were awarded to the top 25 finishers each week, and players were required to return a minimum of five counting scores to qualify.

Prizes will be presented for Overall Winner, Gross Winner, Ladies Winner, Gents Winner and Junior Winner.

In the Gross Category, David Tynan topped the standings on an impressive 770 points, followed by Mark Kelly on 570 points, Oisin Scally on 550 points, Kylan Heffernan on 380 points and Ross McKinley on 300 points.

The Nett Category was headed by Mark Kelly with an outstanding 960 points. Alison O'Neill finished second on 640 points, followed by David Tynan on 575 points, Paula Davitt on 470 points and Jack Tyrrell on 455 points.

Congratulations to all the prize winners and to everyone who supported the series throughout the season. The Order of Merit once again provided competitive and enjoyable golf across the summer months, rewarding consistency and participation over the 12-week campaign.

Competition results

Round 1 of the Mileage Tyres Christmas Hampers took place 3/4th October with 156 golfers taking part. Additionally the top 64 players are virtually paired in teams (1st with 64th, 2nd with 63rd etc). The combined scores from the teams over the two rounds determine who wins the team hampers.
