Local student recognised for outstanding achievement in Leaving Certificate PE
Ellie O’Sullivan Sexton from Loreto College has been recognised by the Physical Education Association of Ireland (PEAI) for achieving the highest mark in Leaving Certificate Physical Education (LCPE).
The award acknowledges an exceptional level of achievement in the subject and celebrates the student’s hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence.
Leaving Certificate PE is a relatively new subject in the Irish Leaving Certificate curriculum, as the first examinations were in 2021.
The subject provides students with an understanding of the science and practice underpinning physical activity and sporting performance, incorporating areas such as biomechanics, nutrition, psychology and skill development.
It combines theoretical knowledge with practical performance, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of physical activity, health and human performance.
PEAI members are delighted to recognise her achievement and congratulate Ellie, her teacher Maria Smyth and the school on well-deserved success.
