WinterFest plans finalised
Mullingar Enhancement Group are again busy organising the Christmas Lights for Mullingar. In recent years, the lights have been supported by the Christmas lights fund through Westmeath County Council and this year is no different.
The group are busy getting lights checked and installation has started around the town. This year the official switch-on of the lights is on Friday November 21 on the Market Square. The enhancement group are working with Mullingar Chamber on this year’s switch-on event, and speaking about it, chamber president, James Bourke, said: “We are delighted that the lights are going up around town. I believe it is important that the lights go up early, in order to support those in retail and hospitality. “The switch-on event is on Friday November 21 from 5pm to 6pm, and the lights will go on at approximately 5.45pm.
“The event will be hosted by Noel O’Farrell , helped by friends from Mullingar Panto group. We will have plenty of festive music and family friendly entertainment.”
“A big addition to this year’s event will be having a new Christmas tree in place – it will really add to the festive feel of the square.
“I’d like to commend Mullingar Enhancement Group for their huge work to get the decorations up and we are delighted to support them through this event. The Christmas lights switch-on event is being funded through WinterFest Mullingar 2025 – a sub brand of Mullingar Chamber, with the goal of promoting Mullingar as a festive destination for all at Christmastime.
“With our launch in the coming week, we will unveil the full details for Winterfest 2025, which includes the return of the ice skating rink and a town centre market venture with the Taste of Westmeath group.
“Winterfest 2025 will promote all Christmas activity within the area, through our dedicated social media channels and Winterfest Mullingar website,” James concluded.
