Increasing admission numbers at Regional Hospital Mullingar
For the third time this month the Regional Hospital Mullingar have issued a notice informing the public they are experiencing increasing numbers of people requiring admission.
The difficulties posed by winter viruses, including flu and Covid-19, continue to cause difficulty in healthcare settings as Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar is again warning about lengthy delays in admissions.
The healthcare facility said: “Where possible, the management at Mullingar Hospital is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local Pharmacist, GP, or a GP out of hours service.”
They advise that if you require urgent medical attention out of hours, you can visit https://www2.hse.ie/services/find-a-gp-out-of-hours/
The most recent statement from the HSE asks those attending to be aware of the delays: “Unfortunately, patients who are presenting at the ED with non-urgent conditions are experiencing very long waiting times to be seen.
“Any patient who needs emergency hospital care will be seen and Regional Hospital Mullingar would urge such patients not to delay attending the ED. Do not delay in seeking medical attention if you suspect you are having a heart attack or stroke, please dial 999 or 112 in an emergency.”
The statement also adds that the difficulties extend to visitors: “Please note that visiting restrictions are currently in place in Regional Hospital Mullingar due to high numbers of respiratory infections circulating in the community. Please visit https://www2.hse.ie/services/hospitals/regional-hospital-mullingar/ for further information.
“Staff and management in Regional Hospital Mullingar apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their support and understanding,” it concludes.
