‘We are proud of every one of you,’ Ballymahon staff tell students

Staff at Mercy Secondary School, Ballymahon celebrated with the 117 Leaving Certificate students who received their results on Friday.

Gary Kenny, principal, said: “We are delighted to celebrate a fantastic set of results, and many outstanding individual achievements. A number of students achieved more than 600 points, a further 18% more than 500 points and 43% of students attained more than 400.

“We are also delighted that many students have secured places in apprenticeships, further education, training, university and the world of work.”

Mr Kenny said that a notable performance from one student in achieving seven A1 grades (now H1s) in the Leaving Certificate is an exceptional academic feat.

“While these achievements are worthy of celebration, our greatest pride lies in seeing all students achieve their personal bests and reach their unique potential. Throughout their six years with us, they have shown commitment, engagement and resilience, embracing the values of respect, care and excellence.”

Mr Kenny said it had been a privilege to support the young people, helping them to grow in confidence, develop their talents and reach new heights.

“I would also like to extend sincere thanks to all our teachers, SNAs and ancillary staff who have supported, encouraged and guided these students throughout their time in Mercy Secondary School. Their dedication, care and commitment have played an important role in helping each student reach their potential.”

Speaking on behalf of himself and his staff colleagues, Mr Kenny wished all 117 students every success, happiness and fulfilment “as they take their next steps and begin their next adventure”.
