Officers investigate firearm discharge and attempted burglary in Grange area

Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating the discharge of a firearm in the Grange area of the town on October 27.

Officers attended the scene at approximately 9pm following reports from members of the public that a firearm had been discharged. No damage was caused and nobody was injured in the incident.

Sergeant Martin Long of An Garda Síochána Mullingar confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. “We’re appealing for any witnesses, anyone who may have dash cam footage, or any other information to contact us in the garda station,” he said.

Gardaí are also investigating an attempted burglary at a house on Burnell Drive, just off the Dublin Road, on October 28.

Officers received a report of suspicious activity in the area at approximately 9pm. When gardaí arrived at the scene, the suspected would-be burglar fled.

Gardaí have since been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and examining CCTV footage from the area as part of their investigation.

Sergeant Long is appealing to anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the Burnell Drive area on the night in question, or who may have information that could assist either investigation, to contact Mullingar Garda Station.
