Westmeath Examiner mark 125th anniversary with high tech website

Westmeath Examiner has marked its 125th year of publication by launching a new high quality website www.westmeathexaminer.ie Dale Greenwood, sales and marketing manager at Westmeath Examiner, said "it seemed fitting that we should be marking our long history of service to this community by now providing the most modern means of accessing our newspaper."Westmeath Examiner has been available on-line in a limited format for the past decade but the new site has been purposely designed and powered by the Mullingar-based Handyweb Company.Already ? after only a week in its new interactive format ? www.westmeathexaminer.ie has attracted rave reviews from Ireland and further afield.Gerry Owens, a Mullingar man currently heading up a major business project in Jakarta, Indonesia, contracted the Examiner to say "the new site is fantastic and a great way of keeping in touch with what is happening at home in Mullingar."The first phase of the website development provides a full digest of the week?s news and sports stories, plus editor?s column and local notes ? available at a click from Friday afternoon. There is also important contact information for the newspaper; detail on advertising rates and marketing information. The next phase, currently being constructed by Handyweb, will allow readers subscribe for the newspaper on-line and also submit their classifieds to the newspaper on-line.Dale Greenwood said the new site is attracting very positive reviews because of its "user-friendly" minimum click nature, allied to the strong editorial content that has made Westmeath Examiner the leading newspaper in the area.He complimented Handyweb managing director, Shaun Bryson and his production manager, Peter Stewart Dolan, on the quality of their work and said it was good to have been able to operate with a locally-based web design company.Handyweb have just moved to new premises at 36 Dominick Street and are on-line at www.handyweb.ieMeanwhile, Westmeath Examiner go from strength to strength in their own premises at Blackhall Place ? and now in a new web format at www.westmeathexaminer.ie
