Kinnegad Notes
On Thursday the new school building for the children of Kinnegad, together with the playgrounds, access roads and car parks, were opened. The area where the new senior school is located has allowed for expanding recreational space in the future.Most senior classes will be taught in the new building with junior classes being taught in the existing school. One class will remain in a prefab.The gate access in through the Supervalu car park will remain in use however a substantial number of parking places are also available at the new school.The Board of Management has said it would like to thank all those who worked diligently over the past five months to complete that project.The parish is urging contributions to the parish building and development fund to allow for expansion of other facilities on the site.Serenity House launches a new Food courseNew activities in Serenity House this autumn will include a Food and Health Course commencing on the 8th of September from 10.30 am until 1 pm.The schedule for the courses in 8th September: Fresh Look at Food; 15th September: Focus on Fat; 22nd September: Focus on Fibre; 29th September: Family Food; 6th October: Sensible Shopping (with a qualified dietician); and the 13th of October will be the presentation of certificates.The Tuesday Night socials and Go for Life classes are resuming with the next social on the 9th of September from 7.30 pm until 10.30 p.m. The library is still open every Thursday in Serenity House from 2 until 4 p.m.Anyone who wants to avail of free transport to and from Serenity House to any of the social nights please phone 9375629 or 9374186.New members are always very welcome to attend any or all of the activities. They include FETAC Level in Assisting Children with Special Needs, Safety and Health at Work, Food Safety and HACCP, Payroll - Manual and Computerised, Sage - Manual and Computerised accounts. They also offer ECDL, and Introductory courses in Computers, Excel, Digital Photography, Internet and Email and Web Design. The cost is €4 for adults and €2 for students with under 7"s free. While the scheme cannot accept the free travel pass yet they hope to in the near future. The bus leaves Rathwire Hall at 9.30 am to arrive for the 10 am Kinnegad Dublin bus. The shopping bus then leaves Kinnegad via Rathwire, killucan, Coralstown and Riverstown to go to Lidl, The Town Centre and Tesco in Mullingar. Anyone interested in this service should book their seats through Ita Copley, Transport Organiser, in Rathwire Hall on 0872845510 or 0449374725.Samaritans Information EveningThe information evening will be held in the Shamrock Hotel in Athlone on Thursday the 4th September at 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend.Kinnegad Parish NewsFriday of this week is the first Friday of September Mass in Kinnegad will be at 8.30am and 8.00 p.m., Coralstown at 10.00am. and in Clonard at 9 am on this First Friday. All Masses will be offered for those on the Parish List of the Dead.There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament all day in Kinnegad. Everyone is welcome for a few quiet prayerful moments. The special intention for this month is the blessing of the new school year.The parish liturgy teams are looking for new members for the readers and Eucharistic minister panels. The parish wants to thank all who have volunteered to date.
