Mullingar Show 2018 launched at Annebrook House Hotel

Mullingar Agricultural Show takes place this year on Sunday July 8 at Culleen, Mullingar, and it was launched last Thursday evening at the Annebrook House Hotel.

Mairead Lavery of the Irish Farmers Journal will perform the official opening at around 12.30pm and Gerry Guthrie and his band will perform from 3pm to 5pm.

There are classes to reflect the traditional agricultural strengths of Westmeath in pedigree and commercial cattle and sheep showing. 

Horse and pony showing are traditionally strong at Mullingar Show, and the large entry in showjumping continues a tradition of excellence.

The action is on from 10am and the pony showing classes are: ridden hunter, ring 1; working hunter, ring 2; in hand, ring 3; 1pm, local riding classes, ring 4.

Horse showing classes, from 10am: mares and foals, ring 5; from 1.30pm, all in hand classes, ring 5; 10am cob and ridden hunter, ring 6; 11am, Irish draught, ring 7; 2pm, donkey classes, ring 7.

Cattle classes, from 10.30am, walled garden.

Sheep and poultry classes from 11.30am.

Indoor classes from 11am.

Dog show from 2pm.

Sheep shearing competitions from 2pm.

There will also be line dancing and a fashion show, and, as always at Mullingar, there is entertainment for all the family.
