Crash victim to be laid to rest on Monday

The teenager who died in a crash on Thursday night in North Offaly is to be laid to rest on Monday.

Shane Hickey died when the tractor he was driving left the road and entered a deep drain in Black Castle Bog in Clonmore, near Rhode.

St Mary's Secondary School, Edenderry, where Shane was in third year, said on social media that they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the third year student.

Tributes were also paid to the teenager by local clubs Edenderry GAA, Edenderry RFC and Derry Rovers.

His remains will be reposing at his home in Clonmore on Sunday from 1pm to 7pm with Rosary at 7pm.

Shane's funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 2pm in St Mary’s Church, Edenderry, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery.

Beloved son of Paula and Richard, Shane will be forever missed by his heartbroken family; his parents, brothers Alex and Evan, grandparents Josie and Eddie (McKeon) and Noel and Marie (Hickey), aunts, uncles, cousins, his girlfriend Holly, extended family and a large circle of friends.
