Artist Emma Carter.

Local artist holding Mullingar exhibition for worthy cause

Collinstown native Emma Carter's latest exhibition is being officially launched in the Atrium in the County Buildings next Tuesday evening (June 21) at 6.30pm.

The exhibition, which is in aid of the Paediatric Ward at MRH Mullingar, will feature 15 previously unseen works by artist and teacher Emma. It will be launched by artist Olga Magliocco, chair of Saolta Arts and will be open to the public from June 20 to July 1.

Emma is a fine art graduate from the renowned Centre for Creative Arts and Media, Galway and is also a qualified teacher. She is an upcoming and talented artist, and this is a unique opportunity to acquire one of her very sought-after pieces as well as supporting a very worthy cause.

This is Emma's second exhibition since her graduation. Currently teaching in Colaiste Dun an Ri in Kingscourt, she says that in addition to being excited about displaying her new work, she is also delighted to be able to raise funds for the Paediatric Ward.

“I am raising funds in aids of the Paeds Ward because I think a small gesture goes a long way. I recently designed Christmas doors for the ward with my fifth year students and this brought joy to the children during Christmas. Fortunately, I get to experience the positives of working with children everyday but it is also important to remember that some children aren't so lucky to come to school everyday. The funds I raise will go towards medical devices and toys, and I am hoping as a teacher and artist to put a smile on their faces.”
