Ray Carolan, Chris McCormack and Fintan Finnan, from Bunbrosna who will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on September 9 in aid of the Irish Red Cross, are holding a fundraising night on Friday, July 24 in the Greville Arms Hotel.With a terrific line-up featuring the best in music Mullingar has to offer, including the Cronin brothers as The Boys from the Blackstuff, the Whiskey River Band and Cúnla amongst many others, this night promises to be a show-stopper and all in aid of a good cause.The Irish Red Cross is part of the world"s largest humanitarian aid organisation. With 97 million volunteers in 186 countries, the Red Cross Movement are on the ground at every natural disaster and conflict zone, bringing life-saving aid to people in desperate need. At home in Ireland, over 4,000 Irish Red Cross volunteers from 135 local branches reach out to vulnerable members of their community providing extensive community care programmes.Climbing Kilimanjaro is a big challenge for the three boys, who have been tackling Carrantuohill - Ireland"s highest mountain in preparation for the trek. They say they are really looking forward to the challenge and have been busy raising money for this very special cause.'The Irish Red Cross charity is a very worthy cause and we would very much appreciate people"s support in helping us to raise funds for this charity,' said Ray Carolan, who went on to say that when they successfully reach the 15,000 ft summit, they plan to proudly fly the Westmeath flag, while Chris McCormack, who is well known Bunbrosna set dancer, says he will do a brush dance to celebrate, provided they get the sponsorship of course!Collectively they have already raised over €7,000, but their fundraising target is €10,000, so all donations are greatly welcome. Tickets costing €10 are available on the door at the Greville Arms Hotel on Friday, so make sure to turn up and give your support.
