Blustery weather to continue

If you've looked out the window, you will already have seen that blustery, shower conditions persist.

Met Éireann is forecasting a fair amount of cloud overall with patchy rain and a risk of local flooding. However, brighter and sunnier interludes developing at times, especially over north Ulster. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees in fresh and gusty westerly winds.

The national weather forecaster says tonight will be mostly cloudy overnight with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Westerly winds will decrease light or moderate in strength. Minimum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is predicted to be another mostly cloudy day with patchy light rain or drizzle. A few sunny spells developing in places. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light, variable winds.

The national outlook is for continued, unsettled weather.

Tuesday night: Scattered outbreaks of rain are expected overnight with some mist and drizzle. Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light, variable winds.

Looking ahead to Wednesday and, after a rather cloudy and damp start, it is expected to brighten up somewhat with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. By evening, there will be good spells of sunshine in most areas. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in light northwest or variable breezes. Largely dry overnight with clear spells and just isolated showers. Minimum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with light winds.

It set to be mostly dry on Thursday with some sunny spells and just isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with moderate southwest breezes. Rain is expected to spread eastwards across the country on Thursday night accompanied by freshening southerly winds. Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Current indications suggest Friday will be a cloudy and breezy day with outbreaks of rain moving in from the Atlantic. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

Weekend: Early guidance suggests there'll be a good deal of dry weather about next weekend. Saturday will bring a mix of sunny spells and well-scattered showers whilst Sunday looks set to be a dry day with spells of sunshine. Temperatures near or slightly below average for July.
